GasMap Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 13, 2026
1. About this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Olivance Platforms Inc. collects, uses, discloses, retains and protects personal information in connection with the GasMap mobile application and related support services.
In this Privacy Policy, “GasMap,” “we,” “us” and “our” refer to Olivance Platforms Inc.
GasMap helps users locate gas stations and compare recently reported fuel prices and station information in Ontario, Canada.
“Personal information” means information about an identifiable individual. It does not generally include information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it cannot reasonably be associated with an identifiable individual.
GasMap does not currently require users to create an account.
Where consent is required, we obtain it through device permissions, application controls or another appropriate method before collecting, using or disclosing the relevant personal information.
2. Information we collect and process
Depending on how you use GasMap and the permissions you provide, we may collect or process the information described below.
A. Current location
If you grant GasMap location permission, GasMap accesses and processes your device’s current location while you are using the application.
Depending on your device settings, GasMap may receive your precise or approximate location.
We use your current location to:
- Show your position on the map;
- Centre the map around your location;
- Identify and display nearby gas stations;
- Calculate approximate distances between you and gas stations; and
- Provide other location-based features that you request.
GasMap does not request permission to access your device’s location when the application is not in use.
Your current location may be transmitted to mapping, hosting or other technical service providers where reasonably necessary to provide the map and nearby-station functions you request.
Olivance Platforms Inc. does not intentionally use your current location to create a continuous history of your movements or to track where you travel when GasMap is not in use.
You can decline or withdraw location permission through your device settings. You may still use non-location-based features, but GasMap may be unable to show your position automatically, identify nearby stations or calculate distances from your location.
Even when device-location permission is disabled, GasMap and its service providers may receive a general indication of your location based on your Internet Protocol address.
B. User submissions
GasMap allows users to manually submit information such as:
- Fuel prices;
- Price-accuracy votes;
- Star ratings;
- New gas stations;
- Station corrections;
- Reports concerning station closures;
- Reports concerning available fuel types or grades; and
- Other factual station information.
GasMap does not require photographs for fuel-price submissions.
When you make a submission, we may collect or process:
- The information you enter;
- The gas station associated with the submission;
- The date and time of the submission;
- An application, installation or session identifier;
- Your Internet Protocol address; and
- Basic technical information reasonably necessary to process the submission, secure GasMap, apply rate limits and identify duplicate, automated, manipulated or fraudulent activity.
Fuel prices, ratings, votes and certain factual station information may be displayed publicly to other GasMap users.
Free-text station reports are submitted privately to GasMap for review and are not ordinarily displayed publicly. We may use them to investigate, verify, correct or update station information.
We do not ordinarily publicly display the identity, Internet Protocol address, device identifier or current location of the person who made a submission.
Do not include personal information about another person in a submission unless you have lawful authority to provide it.
C. Technical and diagnostic information
When you use GasMap, GasMap’s systems and service providers may automatically receive limited technical information such as:
- Internet Protocol address;
- Device type;
- Operating-system type and version;
- GasMap application version;
- Device language and regional settings;
- Date and time of a request;
- Network or connection information;
- Application, installation or session identifiers;
- Error information;
- Crash information;
- Performance information; and
- Security and abuse-prevention information.
We use this information to operate and secure GasMap, respond to requests, diagnose errors, improve reliability and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity.
We do not use this section to authorize collection by analytics, tracking or diagnostic services that are not actually integrated into GasMap.
D. Saved preferences
GasMap may allow you to save preferred gas stations, fuel types and other settings.
These preferences may be stored locally on your device rather than on GasMap’s servers.
Locally stored preferences may be lost if you:
- Delete GasMap;
- Clear its application data;
- Reset your device;
- Replace your device; or
- Otherwise remove the locally stored information.
We do not guarantee that locally stored preferences will be backed up, synchronized or recoverable.
E. Communications with us
If you contact us, we may collect:
- Your name, if provided;
- Your email address;
- The contents of your message;
- Screenshots or supporting documents you choose to provide; and
- Other information you voluntarily provide.
We use this information to respond to you, investigate reports, process privacy requests, resolve technical issues and provide support.
F. Information received from third parties
We may receive information from:
- Mapping and directions providers;
- Advertising providers;
- Hosting and database providers;
- Gas-station or fuel-price data providers;
- Publicly available sources; and
- Other GasMap users.
Station names, business addresses, publicly posted fuel prices and similar information about businesses are not normally personal information.
Technical information received from a third party may be personal information where it can reasonably be associated with an identifiable individual.
3. How we use information
We may use information to:
- Provide, maintain and secure GasMap;
- Show your position on the map;
- Identify and display nearby gas stations;
- Display fuel prices, ratings and station information;
- Calculate approximate distances and estimated savings;
- Process and display user submissions;
- Standardize and combine station information;
- Compare multiple price reports or station reports;
- Assess the apparent reliability and freshness of station information;

We do not use automated systems to make decisions about users that have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Advertising and Google AdMob
GasMap is free to use and may display advertisements provided through Google AdMob.
The Google Mobile Ads software integrated into GasMap may automatically collect or process information such as:
- Internet Protocol address;
- General location inferred from an Internet Protocol address;
- Device and application identifiers;
- Advertising identifiers, where available and permitted;
- Advertisement views, clicks and other interactions;
- Application interactions associated with advertising;
- Crash information;
- Diagnostic information; and
- Performance information.
Google may process this information to:
- Deliver advertisements;
- Measure advertisement performance;
- Limit how often an advertisement is shown;
- Detect and prevent advertising fraud;
- Provide advertising analytics; and
- Personalize advertisements where permitted and after any required permission or consent has been obtained.
Google processes this information under its own terms and privacy policies.
If GasMap enables tracking across applications or websites owned by other companies, GasMap will request any permission required through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework before enabling that tracking.
You may decline a tracking request. Declining tracking does not prevent advertisements from appearing but may affect their personalization or measurement.
You may also be able to manage advertising and privacy choices through:
- GasMap’s available privacy controls;
- Your device’s privacy or tracking settings;
- Your device’s advertising settings; or
- Google’s advertising settings.
Olivance Platforms Inc. does not sell personal information to third parties in exchange for money.
5. When we disclose information
We may disclose information in the circumstances described below.
A. Service providers
We may provide information to service providers that perform functions for GasMap, including:
- Mapping and directions providers;
- Hosting and database providers;
- Google AdMob and related advertising providers;
- Security and abuse-prevention providers;
- Technical-support providers; and
- Professional advisers.
We limit the information disclosed to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant service or purpose.
We require service providers that process personal information on our behalf to protect it using safeguards that provide the same or equivalent level of protection required by this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Where a provider processes information independently rather than solely on our behalf, we take reasonable steps to use providers that maintain appropriate privacy and security protections. Their independent processing is also governed by their own privacy policies and applicable law.
B. Public submissions
Fuel prices, ratings, votes and certain factual station information may be displayed publicly to other GasMap users.
We do not ordinarily publicly display information intended to identify the person who made the submission.
C. Legal, security and safety purposes
We may disclose information where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with a subpoena, court order or other lawful requirement;
- Respond to a valid request from a regulator, law-enforcement agency or government authority;
- Investigate fraud, abuse or a security incident;
- Enforce the GasMap Terms of Service;
- Protect GasMap, its users or another person;
- Prevent harm; or
- Establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
D. Business transactions
Information may be disclosed or transferred in connection with a proposed or completed:
- Financing;
- Merger;
- Acquisition;
- Corporate reorganization;
- Sale of GasMap; or
- Sale of substantially all relevant business assets.
Any recipient will be required to handle personal information in accordance with applicable law and appropriate privacy protections.
E. With your direction or consent
We may disclose information for another purpose where you direct us to do so or provide valid consent.
6. Consent and application permissions
GasMap requests device permissions when they are reasonably required for a feature.
You may decline an optional permission. Declining a permission may prevent the associated feature from working but will not prevent you from using unrelated features.
You may withdraw consent by:
- Changing GasMap’s permissions in your device settings;
- Changing available advertising or privacy choices;
- Declining or withdrawing tracking permission;
- Contacting us; or
- Deleting GasMap from your device.
Withdrawal does not affect collection, use or disclosure that occurred lawfully before consent was withdrawn.
We may retain information after withdrawal where retention remains reasonably necessary or is permitted or required by law.
7. Aggregated and de-identified information
We may aggregate or de-identify information so that it cannot reasonably be associated with an identifiable individual.
We may use and disclose aggregated or de-identified information for purposes such as:
- Fuel-price analysis;
- Statistical reporting;
- Service planning;
- Product development;
- Fraud and abuse detection;
- Business analysis; and
- Improving GasMap.
We will not knowingly attempt to re-identify properly de-identified information except where reasonably necessary to test our privacy or security safeguards or where permitted by law.
8. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, to maintain GasMap, address security or fraud, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
We apply the following retention criteria:
Current location
Olivance Platforms Inc. processes current location for the time reasonably necessary to provide the location-based function requested by the user.
We do not intentionally retain a continuous history of users’ movements.
Limited location-related information may temporarily appear in routine technical records where necessary to complete a request, investigate a technical problem, protect security or prevent abuse.
User submissions
Fuel prices, ratings, votes and factual station information may be retained while they remain relevant to:
- Current or historical fuel-price information;
- Station records;
- Information-quality processes;
- Moderation;
- Fraud prevention;
- Dispute resolution; or
- GasMap’s operation.
Outdated submissions may be removed from public display while remaining temporarily in internal records where reasonably necessary for integrity, security, legal or operational purposes.
Private station reports and support communications
Private reports and communications are retained until the matter is resolved and for any additional period reasonably necessary to maintain appropriate business records, handle related disputes, protect security or comply with law.
Technical and security records
Technical logs, rate-limit records and security information are retained for the period reasonably necessary to:
- Operate and troubleshoot GasMap;
- Detect repeated abuse;
- Investigate security incidents;
- Protect users and GasMap; and
- Comply with legal obligations.
Local preferences
Preferences stored locally remain on the device until deleted through GasMap or the device, or until GasMap’s application data is removed.
Aggregated or de-identified information
Information that has been irreversibly aggregated or de-identified may be retained indefinitely because it can no longer reasonably identify an individual.
Backups
Information deleted from active systems may remain temporarily in secure backups until those backups are overwritten through the ordinary backup cycle, unless longer retention is required by law or necessary to investigate a security incident.
When information is no longer required, we delete it, securely dispose of it or de-identify it.
9. Deletion requests
You may request deletion of personal information held by Olivance Platforms Inc. by contacting [email protected].
GasMap does not currently use user accounts. As a result, we may not be able to identify every submission as belonging to a particular person.
To help us locate information, we may ask you to provide details such as:
- The gas station concerned;
- The approximate date and time of the submission;
- The type and contents of the submission;
- The email address used to contact us; or
- Other information reasonably necessary to identify the relevant record and verify the request.
We may decline or limit a deletion request where:
- We cannot reasonably identify the requested information;
- Retention is required or permitted by law;
- Retention is necessary for security, fraud prevention or legal claims;
- Deletion would adversely affect information concerning another person; or
- The information has already been irreversibly aggregated or de-identified.
10. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request:
- Access to personal information we hold about you;
- Information about how that information has been used or disclosed;
- Correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information;
- Withdrawal of consent;
- Deletion of personal information; or
- Information about our privacy practices and service providers.
We may need to verify your identity before processing a request. Information collected for verification will not be used for an unrelated purpose.
Applicable law may permit or require us to refuse part or all of a request. If this occurs, we will explain the reason unless we are prohibited from doing so.
To exercise a privacy right, contact [email protected].
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or another privacy regulator with jurisdiction over the matter.
11. Security safeguards
We use administrative, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we handle.
These safeguards may include:
- Limiting access to authorized persons;
- Authentication and access controls;
- Encryption in transit where appropriate;
- Secure hosting and storage services;
- Software and dependency updates;
- Monitoring for suspicious or abusive activity;
- Rate limits;
- Data minimization;
- Service-provider controls; and
- Procedures for responding to security incidents.
Where required by law, we will report qualifying privacy breaches to the appropriate regulator and notify affected individuals.
No mobile application, network, storage system or method of transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International processing
GasMap and its service providers may process or store information in Canada, the United States or other countries.
Information processed outside your province or country may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies or governmental authorities in that jurisdiction.
We remain responsible under applicable law for personal information transferred to service providers for processing on our behalf and use appropriate contractual, organizational or technical protections.
13. Children’s privacy
GasMap is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children.
We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children without consent appropriate under applicable law.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to GasMap without appropriate consent, contact [email protected]. We will investigate and take reasonable steps to delete the information where required.
14. Third-party services
GasMap may provide access to independent third-party services, including maps, directions, advertisements, websites and external links.
Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
This Privacy Policy does not govern information that you provide directly to an independent third party or that a third party collects outside GasMap.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to:
- GasMap’s functionality;
- Our information-handling practices;
- Our service providers;
- Applicable law; or
- App-store requirements.
The effective date at the top identifies when the current version took effect.
If we make a material change, we will provide notice through GasMap or by another reasonable method before the change takes effect.
Where required by law, we will obtain additional consent.
Changes will not retroactively reduce your rights concerning information collected under an earlier version unless permitted by law and supported by any required consent.
